During its operational history, the Phantom II has been fitted with 2 types of ejection seat. The early versions were equipped with Mk.H5 ejection seats, which were gradually replaced between 1967 and 1968 by Mk.H7 seats, which had the "Zero-Zero" ejection capability. The Mk.H5 are easily identified by its soft parachute container located in an aluminum case. This item is a scaled down replica of the early Mk.H5 seats mounted on the F-4A/B up tu BuNo. 153004 of the US Navy and the USMC. This subtype differs from the late Mk.H5 with its survival kit, its seal and dorsal cushions and harness buckles. Extensive research allowed us to accurately replicate all characteristic details of this seat.

With over 5000 examples built, the F-4 Phantom II is an important aircraft in aviation history. During its over 60-years carrier, it took extensive part into several conflicts, including the Vietnam War, the Gulf War and the Yom Kippur War and was the backbone of air forces of 12 nations around the world. Since it entered service in 1960, it was equipped with 2 types of ejection seats. The early versions had Mk.H5 that were gradually replaced between 1967 and 1968 with Mk.H7 seat, which had the "Zero-Zero" ejection capability thanks to the addition of a rocket pack under the seat pan. The Mk.H5 are easily identified with its soft parachute container located in an aluminum case. This Item represents the early version of the H5 seats used in US Navy and USMC F-4A and F-4B up to Bu.No. 153004. This subtype differs from the late Mk.H5 version with its survival kit, its seat and dorsal cushions and its harness buckles. Extensive research based on the dimensions and pictures of an actual seat and technical documentation allowed us to accurately replicate all characteristic details. These parts will advantageously replace plastic kit parts in order to backdate your Phantom to replicate the aircraft used by the US Navy and USMC in the early years of the Vietnam War. It just needs painting for a convincing look. As these parts have not been designed for a specific kit, some adjustment may be necessary to fit properly.
