F-8P Crusader - Mk.F7AF Ejection Seat French Navy - 1/72
During its operational history, the French F-8 crusader has been equiped with 2 types of ejection seat. When delivered, the F-8E(FN) was fitted with Martin-Baker Mk.F5AF seats. This version differed from the US type by its 5-point-harness like indicated by the second F in its designation. They were used until their replacement by the Mk.F7AF starting in 1992 during the F-8E(FN) upgrade to F-8P standard.
This item is a scale down replica of the Mk.F7AF seat. Extensive research made it possible to accurately replicate all characteristic details like the French Navy harness or the rigid type surviving kit. These parts will advantageously replace plastic kit parts.

During its operational history, the F-8 crusader has been equiped with 3 types of ejection seat. The early versions F-8A, B et early C were fitted with original Vought seats but, when the l'US Navy decided in 1962 to replace all its ejection seats with Martin-Baker ones, the Vought seats were removed and Mk.F5A seats were mounted. Even if these seat have the Mk.5 designation, those for the Crusader had specific features like the shape of the extractor parachute container or the squared main parachute protection resulting in the official designation being Mk.F5A. When France decided to use the Crusader, it was necessary to modify the ejection seat to match the French Navy standard. The main modification was the adaptation of french 5-point-harness in place of the US Navy harness. This modified seats were redesignated Mk.5AF. They were used until their replacement by the Mk.F7AF starting in 1992 during the F-8E(FN) upgrade to F-8P standard.
This item is a scale down replica of the Mk.F7A seat. All characteristic details like the French Navy harness or the rigid type surviving kit have been precisely reproduced.
